2013 Google Nexus 7 gets software bump to fix multitouch flaw

Google has confirmed it is rolling out an software update for its new Nexus 7 2 tablet which should put to bed an annoying touchscreen issue that has dogged some users.

The multi-touch issue, which we first reported earlier this month, causes the screen to act up, rendering it useless for a short period of time, when more than one finger is placed on the screen, for example, to pinch to zoom.

Now Google staffer 'PaulW' posted on the company's product forums that an update is on the way to Android Jelly Bean 4.3, that promises to fix the ailment.

He wrote: "As a couple of you have mentioned, there’s a new system update that’s started rolling out for your Nexus 7s. This update does address the touchscreen issues discussed in this thread. If you’re one of the people experiencing touchscreen issues, please let us know how it’s going after you’ve received and installed the update."

The touchscreen issue isn't the first problem to affect early adopters of the ASUS-made, 7-inch tablet. An GPS issue that causes signal to drop off continues to endure for some users, but its unclear whether this update will deal with that issue also.

Have you been experiencing the issues discussed above? Has the software bump helped? Let us know below.
