Ubisoft has released a new Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag trailer at Gamescom 2013, giving some hints to the game’s storyline.
Ahead of the Assassin’s Creed 4 release date on November 1, the new trailer seems to offer some clues as to how the game’s story will play out.

The trailer shows off the game’s protagonist, Edward Kenway, interacting with various characters, the majority of which haven’t been seen before this Gamescom trailer.

One character, a man with a fairly horrific scar down the side of his face gets particular attention in the new trailer, most probably the main antagonist of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag.

Although no details are offered on the characters within the trailer, it certainly sparks our curiosity.

The trailer also showcases several of the 50 Caribbean locations players will get to explore in Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag. Alongside the three main urban locations of the Jamaican capital of Kingston, Cuba’s Havanna or the pirate haven Nassau, gamers can also find themselves in forests, underwater shipwrecks and wild jungles.

Kenway is seen leaping across and from the top of buildings in the usual Assassin’s Creed style, but also creeping through the undergrowth of the forest locations launching sneak attacks on unsuspecting enemies.

Even from this trailer alone, it is evident that Assassin’s Creed 4 will offer gamers the most vast and diverse world of the game’s series, introducing a diving mode and a focus on full naval combat as players command their very own ship, The Jackdaw.

Although the upcoming title picks up on one of the more popular aspects of Assassin’s Creed 3 in terms of gameplay, Edward Kenway himself will be more akin to the series’ most popular character, Ezio Auditore da Firenze.

The AC4 storyline will see Kenway rise from carefree brigand to someone deeply involved in the Assassins and their cause.
